AD Space x Kudos
Since 1998, Kudos has been host to some of Sydney's most innovative and dynamic artists, designers, curators and writers, creating a bridge between students at UNSW Art & Design and the broader arts community.
Between 1998 - 2020 Kudos was Kudos Gallery at its physical site housed in No.6 Napier St, Paddington, a professional off campus exhibition space. Kudos Gallery hosted between 10-20 exciting shows from students, alumni, and all kinds of emerging creatives. With it’s doors always open to showcasing experimental concepts Kudos Gallery was host to a wide range of unparalleled public programs, workshops, buzzing opening nights, performance nights, and much more over the years
The gallery saw students come through the doors as visitors, volunteers, exhibitors, curators, and critics and find on their way out the creative tools to take with them to develop their emerging arts careers.
Sadly, at the end of 2020 Kudos bid farewell to it’s physical home at no.6 Napier Street Paddington, due to a number of reasons, but including the financial and structural impacts of the global pandemic on our organisation.
The decision to close our Paddington premises will allow Kudos to continue to evolve and adapt to the needs of our artists, designers, curators and writers in our present time and context. This decision will enable Kudos to prioritise opportunities for our artists, designers, writers and curators, and to provide a more accessible and sustainable future of Kudos.
In 2021 Kudos will live on as a super exciting satellite program with;
- Kudos Off Site: pop-up exhibitions and public projects.
- Kudos Online Exhibitions
- Kudos Shop
- Public Programs and workshops
- Kudos Archive Project
- Kudos Emerging Artist, Designer, Critic and Curator Awards
- Three Foot Square exhibitions
- Kudos Committee and professional development Arc Art Start volunteer program.
We’re going to continue what we do best which is providing dynamic opportunities for students to find their local arts communities and to kick start their emerging arts careers.
Kudos has always been the launchpad for arts students, and a safe place to play, experiment, test, and share creative ideas, and will continue to be so now and into the future. Thanks for your patience as we figure out what this new shape looks like and begin to build its foundations!
