Jerico Contemporary is delighted to present Jedda-Daisy Culley’s second solo show with the gallery, 'FEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELINGS'. The show opens on Friday the 13th of March, in conjunction with Art Month’s Art at Night East Sydney precinct event, and will continue through to Saturday the 28th of March 2020.

'FEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELINGS' is a multidisciplinary exhibition that breathes life into the small conversations we share with others and ourselves about our emotions and how we feel. Drawing on the artist’s previous body of work that explored the relationship between the female form, expectation and technology, Culley enters a new dialogue centred around themes of vulnerability, rejection, connection and access.

In this latest body of work, the artist draws attention to the varied ways we engage with and express our feelings, whether it be in person or online. We often begin conversations about our feelings with “I feel like”—three simple words that soften the entrance for the others that are destined to follow. They create an immediate neutrality between the self and other, imbued with the intention of meeting somewhere in the middle.

As Culley writes, ‘I start my sentences with: “I feel like…” You do it too. It’s safer, as if what I am about to say is not really an opinion, but something more impermanent. After all, feelings are changeable...I’m in the process of formulating my opinion. I’m giving you space to tell me how you feel, so with our feelings combined we might get somewhere in this conversation. Build something together.’ These three words are the foundation of Culley’s exhibition, which hold space and time for our deepest truths—and fears—to rise and settle into themselves; to feel and form into the outside edges of their meaning.

We look forward to welcoming you at the gallery to Jedda-Daisy Culley 'FEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELINGS'.
